Jennifer Abubakar Ekua is a 26-year old model at a major turning point in her life. She is on her final assignment before her break from the industry to focus on motherhood. She is having her first baby with her husband, German businessman Thomas Reinhold.

She began her career in modeling when she landed a major magazine contract. She has been on various campaigns ever since. Five years ago, destiny crossed her path with her husband in an online chat room. Her initial impression on the German was, “kind, thoughtful and talented”. That made it easy for the pair to get along and Thomas decided to see her in Durban and corrupt her usual weekend. That brief time they spent together marked the beginning of their whirlwind romance. It was not long before Jennifer Abubakar moved to Germany to be with Thomas.

As she temporarily retires from modeling, Jennifer embarks on a new career as a designer. She will be designing maternity clothing aimed primarily on black women. She wishes to impart her style to her designs to flatter women of colour. Her unique taste speaks for itself: dressed up in a rich Kashmir coat to conceal her subtly showing belly, not a hint of corruption on her svelte figure. Watch out for the launch of her own clothing line in spring.
